BMA Launches New Junior Program

Alexander McCune, Program Director

The Bakerview Music Academy is proud to announce our new BMA Junior program, designed to prepare young students for success in our full program. The Junior program provides comprehensive musical training for students in Grades 1-3, with a choir and musicianship class. When these students finish their year in the Junior program, they will be well prepared for the challenges of learning an instrument as they join the full Senior program.

Our teachers have recognized the great value of this preparatory year. For a young child, learning to play an instrument can be very challenging. Children who have already learned to read notes, singing and making music together with other musicians, advance very quickly when they begin their instrument classes. We are looking forward to seeing the fruits of our work next year, when our current BMA Junior students will “graduate” and join the full BMA Senior program!

We are very glad to be working with The Life Centre church in Abbotsford, where we will be holding our junior classes on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Watch for more news, and expect to see some great new young singers and musicians performing with the Senior students at our Christmas Concert, Monday December 12!

Alexander McCune, Program Director

BMA Board members and supporters receive the award from the Abbotsford School District

The Bakerview Music Academy is proud to be the recipient of the 2016 Community Matters Award, from the Abbotsford School District. We are very honoured to have won this award, thanks to many nominations from parents and teachers who have seen great results from the Academy’s work.

Most important for our future is the recognition from this honour. We hope to find many more new supporters and volunteers who are excited about our mission and want to help make a positive change in this community!
